EXPLORING MESH STRATEGIES
EXPLORING MESH STRATEGIES
Several approaches were explored to rationalize the double-curved surface into planar quadrilateral elements. Among them, a coarse triangular mesh provided the best results. By introducing and positioning singularities within the mesh, the geometry was refined to balance three parameters: size dispersion, aspect ratio, and surface deviation. This approach offered the most effective approximation of the original curvature while maintaining the geometric conditions required for planar elements.

Once the geometry was rationalized, the surface was divided into continuous stripes. This strategy provided a way to organize the planar elements into manageable sections and establish a sequence for their assembly.

The physical construction translates the digital geometry into a material system, testing the assembly logic and the relationship between the rationalized surface and its individual components.
